The NWS invites you to their 2009 summer camp in August 11-15 at their home ice rink in Sherwood Oregon. This 4 day camp will be one of the most concentrated and coordinated efforts we have yet to offer. Coaching will be the finest, drills the best, and the fun ... well that will be awesome as well.
All levels of play are welcome as the coaches will be focusing on individual development skills of each player. No matter your current level of play, you can expect to be pushed to your personal limit. No Boys! That's right, NWS camps are just for female players, giving you the opportunity to learn in an environment that is friendly and supportive.

The NW Storm team took everyone by 'Storm' at the 6th annual MLK tournament in San Jose. Finding a way to win, the Storm beat everyone in their path, including the LA Hockey Selects (twice) to get to the championship game. They fell to the Lady Ducks in the finals, but gave everything they had and made a run at them.
Congratulations to all players, coaches, parents of the Storm team ... well done!!!

U12's Take Gold In Langley
The U12 and U14 teams headed to Langley BC for the Angles On Ice Tournament over the Christmas holiday break.
The U14s, playing at the tier I level and short benched played exceptional hockey on the weekend ...
But it was all U12s as they took the tournament by storm, winning the championship against the home team, Langley. |
Well done NWS!!!

NWS U14s Win It All
The U14s win it all!!! Tied after regulation (4-4) the teams headed into a 3 player shoot out. Making all 3 shots and giving up 1, the NWS win the tournament in style!!! The U19s just coming off the ice from a win of their own, celebrated with the U14s for an on-ice picture and lots of hugs. The U12s, had headed home by then, but the Canadian cell towers will jammed with calls looking for updates ... the celebration was shared with all. Congratulations to all of our players and coaches for all their efforts and integrity on and off the ice.

The U19 team has declared Nationally Bound. This is the first time the NW Selects have gone to this level. This is an opportunity of a life-time for most of the players and is looked at in great favor by the college coaches that the players are in contact with.
In 2005 the NWS incubator team (Portland Jr. Hawks) went to the District tournament in Anaheim. That team played extremely well and had the time of their lives. From that original team, there are only 2 skaters - Caroline Schaefer and Shannon Lane who were on that team.
Districts is a tough tournament, but this is not powder puff hockey - this is the NWS!!! |

This summer the NWS will also be kicking off its Introductory Program. The program will be made available to 4-11 year old girls who want to give hockey a try.
The NWS have purchased 20 sets of hockey equipment through the One Goal program and will make it available to camp attendees as part of the fee structure.
The camps will feature 4 sessions across 4 weeks. Each session will split the ice by skater ability, so everyone can learn at their own pace. Local NWS coaches, alumni and current U19 players will be on hand to instruct the girls ... and have a ball doing it.
