Official Home of the Northwest Selects Female Hockey Organization

Our Mission is to develop a long-lasting tradition of competitive hockey in the Pacific Northwest for the female athlete that fosters their development and exposure to upper level women’s hockey and recruitment by our nation’s best college hockey programs.

The NW Selects started its girls program in 2005 and have been go strong ever since. Our players are some of the most skilled players in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Nevada and we play in the highest profile tournaments available.

NW Selects Fifth Annual Summer Mini-Camps

NW Selects summer camps are a great way to keep sharp in the summer, while learning new skills along the way. NWS Camps are exclusively for females and feature some of the best coaches available. Everyone is welcome, no matter where you play in-season.

NW Selects camps are structured so that they are completed in one weekend with only one night stay, if you are traveling. Players get 8 hours of ice time, 2 hours of dry-land training, 1 hour of classroom instruction ... and a lot of fun.

The Dates & Locations Are:

  • Kent, Washington (July 19 - 20) The NW Selects Female Hockey Organization held the first of three summer camps this weekend in Kent, WA.  The camp was held at the Kent Valley Ice Arena in Kent, WA. on Saturday and Sunday July 19th and 20th.

  • Portland (August 16 - 17) The final camp of the season will be for all female players and will be run by Coach Tom Peart, Augsburg College. Tom has run our Portland camp for 2 years now and everyone loves his ability to teach hockey in a positive environment. Other NW Selects coaches will assist. The camp will be limited to 30 skaters.

Attendees compare NWS mini-camps to any camp in the country for quality of coaching, cost per hour of ice and overall experience ... and they keep on coming back year after year.

NWS 2008-2009 Try-Out Dates

The NWS will be holding try-outs at the U14 and U19 levels on September 13-14, 2008. There will be 6 hours of ice time where we will evaluate based on skill-drills, conditioning and scrimage situations. From those try-outs, teams will be formed.

We are looking not only for hockey players, but for good citizens who can conduct themselves in a mature fashion during road trips (with or without mom and dad). A big part of our program is the building of charactor in our players ... skills matter, but attitude will carry the day!

U16 Team Is Possible - If the numbers allow us to create both a U16 and a U19 team, then we will be adding the U16 level to our organization. We will not know that until the try-outs in September. The U16 schedule will be the same as the U19 schedule ... costs will be the same.
NWS Introductory Program Coming This Summer

This summer the NWS will also be kicking off its Introductory Program. The program will be made available to 4-8 year old girls who want to give hockey a try.

The NWS have purchased 20 sets of hockey equipment through the One Goal program and will make it available to camp attendees as part of the fee structure.

The camps will feature 4 sessions across 4 weeks. Each session will split the ice by skater ability, so everyone can learn at their own pace. Local NWS coaches, alumni and current U19 players will be on hand to instruct the girls ... and have a ball doing it.

More details will be available soon.
